Casey Beldon este o fată normală, care brusc începe să aibă coșmaruri care-l deranjeze. În timp ce faci babysitting pentru vecini, cea mai mare dintre cei doi copii care frecventează are un comportament foarte ciudat și repetată de mai multe ori într-o frază aparent fără sens "El vrea să se nască acum." În timp ce halucinatii încep să se manifeste, de asemenea, este protagonistul unui alt fenomen ciudat: ochii ei se schimbă culoarea. Un oftalmolog liniștește evita cel mai rău, dar explica acest fenomen ciudat ca o caracteristică specială care se pot referi numai dacă gemenii.

GOYER (Blade: Trinity, The Invisible, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) si producatorul MICHAEL BAY (Transformers, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Armageddon) arunca o privire cutremuratoare in lumea celor ne-morti in „THE UNBORN”, un thriller supranatural care urmareste actiunile unei tinere impinsa intr-o lume de cosmar, cand un spirit demonic incepe sa o bantuiasca si ameninta toate persoanele care ii sunt dragi.
Casey Beldon (ODETTE YUSTMAN din Cloverfield, filmul TV October Road) si-a urat mama care a parasit-o de cand era copil. insa, cand inexplicabilul se produce, Casey incepe sa inteleaga de ce a plecat mama ei. Bantuita de cosmaruri nemiloase si torturata de o fantoma, fata cere ajutorul singurei persoane, rabinul Sendak (GARY OLDMAN din The Dark Knight, franciza Harry Potter), care poate opri raul.

Casey Beldon è una ragazza normale che improvvisamente comincia ad avere degli incubi che la turbano. Mentre fa da baby sitter a dei vicini di casa, il più grande dei due bambini che assiste ha un comportamento molto strano e le ripete più volte una frase apparentemente insensata "Lui vuole nascere adesso".
Mentre cominciano a manifestarsi anche delle allucinazioni, è protagonista di un altro strano fenomeno: gli occhi le stanno cambiando di colore. Un oculista la tranquillizza scongiurando il peggio ma spiegando questo strano fenomeno come una particolarità che può riguardare però esclusivamente dei gemelli. Casey scopre così che i genitori non le hanno mai detto dell'esistenza di un suo gemello, morto poco prima di nascere. La mamma, morta già da tempo in un ospedale psichiatrico, non le ha mai rivelato questo forse per cancellare un dolore che non sopportava.

Casey Beldon has nightmarish hallucinations of strange-looking dogs in the neighbourhood and an evil child with bright blue eyes following her around. While babysitting Matty, her neighbor's son, she finds him showing his infant sibling its reflection in a mirror. Matty attacks Casey, smashing the mirror on her head, and tells her: "Jumby wants to be born now". She puts him to bed and leaves in shock.
Casey's friend Romee tells her of a superstition that newborns should not see their reflections in the mirror for at least a year because otherwise they will die soon. Casey's eyes begin to change color; a doctor asks if she is a twin, and explains the change as tetragametic chimerism and heterochromia, and that is completely normal. Her neighbor's infant dies, supporting the superstition.
Casey's father admits that she had a twin brother years ago who died while he was in the womb when her umbilical cord strangled him, and whom he and Casey's mother had nicknamed "Jumby". She begins to suspect that the spirit is haunting her and that is the soul of her dead twin wanting to be born so it can enter the world of the living as evil.
