În noua producţie cinematografică, 007: Coordonata Skyfall, loialitatea lui Bond faţă de M (interpretată de Judi Dench) este pusă la încercare atunci când trecutul acesteia începe să o urmărească. Povestea începe cu relatarea ultimelor misiuni Bond, nereuşite, care pun astfel în pericol anonimatul agenţilor secreţi din întreaga lume. Sediul MI6 este atacat, iar M este astfel forţată să mute agenţia. În urma acestor evenimente, autoritatea şi funcţia sa sunt ameninţate de Mallory (interpretat de Ralph Finnes), noul preşedinte al Comitetului de Inteligenţă şi Securitate. Agentul 007, alături de Eve (Naomie Harris) porneşte în misiune, pe urmele lui Silva (Javier Bardem), ale cărui motivaţii periculoase şi ascunse trebuie dezvăluite cu orice preţ.
